Preschool & Kindergarten
Social Skills Group
These one hour per week daytime groups are designed for our youngest clients faced with speech or developmental delay, social anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, or those who may need extra support and reassurance socially.
Our Preschool & Kindergarten Group Goals will be individualized to the needs of the members but often include goals such as:
Improve social communication skills with peers including greetings, conversation, play, and cooperation
Increase independence in a group including increasing attention, participation and self-monitoring
Improve play skills like turn taking in structured games; responding to winning/losing; waiting; playing appropriately in unstructured social play
Build recognition of nonverbal communication, such as identifying emotions, body language and maintain appropriate personal body space
Improve coping skills in social environments
Teaching methods are based on principles and procedures of ABA
Progress toward individual goals will be provided in writing and feedback will be offered quarterly. Typical peers and siblings can often be included at no additional cost.
